Skip Kastroll

Senior Director, Insights & Analytics

Overview

Skip Kastroll is Senior Director of Insights and Analytics at AmPhil, where he leads the firm’s analytics function and its growing use of AI. He builds AmPhil’s reporting systems, manages engagement analytics across the firm’s client portfolios, and currently leads AmPhil’s AI pilot program, testing practical tools and use cases. He has also helped bring on platforms like Salesforce and ClickUp along the way. Since stepping into the role in 2024, he has led the implementation of a firm-wide FP&A platform that took AmPhil from low data visibility to a centralized, real-time view of its operations. He previously served as AmPhil’s Director of Consulting Operations, managing operational cadence and engagement economics across the firm’s consulting groups, and now leads a small team covering both the firm’s creative studio and its data and analytics work.

Skip’s Story:

Skip has spent his career at the intersection of data and decisions. He firmly believes that numbers and models are only as valuable as the story they tell and the action they inspire. That same instinct now shapes how he thinks about systems, operations, and data at AmPhil, where he’s less interested in the tools themselves than the decisions they galvanize. Before joining AmPhil in 2021, he spent twelve years at Liberty University, progressing from Financial Aid Advisor to Associate Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, where he oversaw university-wide assessment, accreditation compliance, and strategic planning metrics across more than 200 campus units and 250 academic programs.

His work on FP&A and data communication has been featured by Datarails, including the article “Bridging the Gap: Translating Finance Insights for Effective Decision-Making,” and an appearance on the FP&A Today podcast with Glenn Hopper. He also teaches a philosophy of life course at Regent University, a role he has held since 2016, work that draws on the M.R.E. in Religious Education he holds alongside an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, both from Liberty University, and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of North Florida.

Skip lives in the Greater Lynchburg, Virginia area with his two kids, who keep him plenty busy outside of work. When he’s not on the bike, he’s usually working through a long list of science fiction and fantasy novels, from Tad Williams’ epic fantasy to Liu Cixin’s hard sci-fi. And if you’re wondering why everyone calls him Skip, feel free to just ask him.
