What does an Analyst role look like?

 

What You’ll Do

As part of AmPhil’s Core Consulting Division, an Analyst at AmPhil works within a specific consulting group and provides project execution support to the group’s members to ensure that the firm continues to meet a high standard of excellence in serving its clients and fulfilling its obligations.

Primary activities and responsibilities include:

  • Researching qualified individual, foundation, and corporate donor prospects and creating profiles;
  • Drafting content for communications such as emails, letters, proposals, and brochures;
  • Assisting with data entry, clean-up, and analysis;
  • Creating, maintaining, and coordinating project schedules and tasks across various internal and external parties to ensure timely project completion;
  • Acquiring proficiency in AmPhil systems and Microsoft Office programs and assisting with the formatting and editing of projects on these platforms;
  • Developing familiarity with key fundraising concepts, as well as important ideas and figures in AmPhil’s landscape;
  • Providing proofing and quality control support;
  • Scheduling meetings, taking meeting notes, drafting emails and agendas, and performing other administrative tasks; and
  • Contributing to firm culture through strong engagement, communication, collegiality, and conviviality.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced: The ideal candidate will have at least one year of professional experience. A liberal arts background, some familiarity with nonprofits and fundraising, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs are preferred.

  • Drafting, proofing, and coordinating design for projects such as emails, letters, proposals, and brochures;

Over time, a Consultant also begins to lead client engagements.

Primary activities and responsibilities include:  

  • Scheduling calls, drafting call and meeting agendas, taking call notes, and noting action items;
  • Creating, maintaining, and coordinating project schedules, calendars, tasks, and other key planning tools across various internal and external parties to ensure accurate tracking and timely project completion;
  • Driving the execution and quality control of key client deliverables by writing, editing, and/or coordinating completion of projects such as emails, letters, proposals, development plans, progress reports, and designed collateral;
  • Managing up to colleagues working together on client engagements;
  • Communicating regularly with clients in a professional manner, including taking the lead in responding to client needs when possible;
  • Researching qualified individual, foundation, and corporate donor prospects and creating profiles;
  • Assisting with data review and analysis, and proposing recommendations based on findings;
  • Serving as engagement lead on a small number of engagements, meeting regularly with clients and building strong relationships while advising on a wide range of fundraising, communications, operations, and management questions and projects;
  • Growing awareness key fundraising concepts, as well as important ideas and figures in AmPhil’s landscape;
  • Supporting business development efforts by accurately identifying client and prospect needs, effectively communicating AmPhil offerings as needed, supporting the cultivation of current clients through excellent client service, and attending conferences and events as requested;
  • Contributing to firm culture through strong engagement, communication, collegiality, and conviviality; and
  • Other duties as requested.

What You’ll Do

As part of AmPhil’s Core Consulting Division, a Senior Consultant at AmPhil works within a specific consulting group and is responsible for serving as an engagement lead or project manager on multiple client engagements, leading strategy and execution for a wide variety of fundraising-related projects.

Primary activities and responsibilities include:  

  • Serving as engagement lead on select client accounts, meeting regularly with clients and building strong relationships while advising on a wide range of fundraising, communications, operations, and management questions and projects;
  • Serving as project manager on complex engagements led by senior leaders, monitoring schedules and coordinating and following up with internal and external parties to complete deliverables in a timely and thorough manner;
  • Driving the execution of high-quality research, analysis, and client deliverables such as progress reports, proposals, prospect research, development plans, donor communications, and collateral;
  • Assisting with training and mentoring support for junior group members;
  • Supporting business development by cultivating current clients and leading contract renewal discussions, drafting and editing pitch decks and proposals, and attending conferences and events as requested; and
  • Other duties as requested.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced: The ideal candidate will have at least five years of professional experience, including at least two years in a fundraising-related role; familiarity with the nonprofit landscape; project management experience; strong analytical skills; and well-honed written and verbal communication skills. Liberal arts background preferred.
